British police re-open Markov case
Detectives in Britain have revived an investigation into the 30-year-old murder of the Bulgarian BBC broadcaster and author Georgi Markov.
He is thought to have been killed by a government agent who used an umbrella to fire a poisoned pellet into the the author's leg.
Mr Markov was a stern critic of the Bulgarian communist regime and had survived two previous attempts on his life.
There is now a rush to solve his murder before a 30-year-time limit on the case expires in September.
