Burundi Communications Council warns internet operators

 

Bujumbura, Burundi – The National Communica tions Council of Burundi (CNC) has threatened to prosecute officials of internet sites that "propagate dangerous information" about the country, official sources disclosed here Saturday.

According to the council, the officials are Burundi nationals, living in Europe and who do not allow any opportunity pass without vilifying the government.

"The role of a good journalist is usually to promote peace, tolerance and nation al unity," the CNC observed.

The council assured it will use "every available means to unmask and prosecute o fficials of the hate-campaign, which is developing on the internet."
