DR Congo moved to join Egypt at the summit of Group 12 of the 2010 World Cup qualifying campaign after a resounding 6-0 win over a hapless Djibouti side on Friday.

Dieumerci Mbokani and Zola Matumona grabbed a brace each as the Simbas cruised to the victory at the El Hadj Hassan Gouled Stadium in the capital Djibouti.

Belgium-based Mbokani opened the floodgates for the visitors in the 25th minute after displacing goalkeeper Guedi Hassan.

The Simbas doubled their lead six minutes later when Galatasaray striker Shabani Nonda out-jumped the defenders to head home.

DR Congo were 3-0 up in on 40 minutes after enterprising Matumona dribdled past three defenders, before scoring for the edge of the box.

Second-half strikes from Mbokani, Matumona and Mputu Mabi sealed the comprehensive victory for the visitors.

The victory takes DRC level on six points with African champions Egypt, who have a match in hand as they travel to face Malawi on Saturday.

Djibouti, the group's whipping boys, remain at the bottom of the table with no points, having conceded 18 goals and scored just one in their three Group 12 matches so far.
