Relatives of former Tarime MP Chacha Wangwe - who died in a car accident - yesterday postponed burial ceremony citing foul play in the manner in which he died.

With confusing versions of stories from Dodoma and at the scene of accident, on whether Wangwe or Francis Mallya who escaped with minor injuries was or not driving the car, rumours are flying around that it wasn't a mere accident.

Unconfirmed reports from Tarime suggest that body of the deceased was found to have bullet-wounds.

Both stories, that of Mwiguni George, who reportedly rushed to the scene of accident where he found the late MP in the passenger's seat with his seat belt on, and that from Tarime claiming bullet wounds, leave the public in suspense. Though the decision to postpone burial ceremony yesterday is a family matter, we believe the sooner this controversy is addressed by relevant authorities, especially the police, the better.

As it stands now, it has turned out to be a political issue, given recent tension within the party involving the late MP and the leadership within the opposition Chadema.

We call upon the police to speed up investigations on this matter as a way of clearing the air amongst the Tarime community. In the meantime, we appeal for calm and peaceful mourning.
