A group of 62 students from the science domain have been given scholarships to go and continue their studies abroad.

This was announced during a ceremony organized Tuesday by the Students Finance Agency for Rwanda (SFAR), at Hotel La palisse Nyandungu.

The Minister of Education, Daphrose Gahakwa, who was also the chief guest, advised the recipients of the scholarships to work hard and get the best out of that chance.

"Being eligible and receiving these scholarships is not the end, but rather the beginning of a challenge to work hard and achieve the best out of this opportunity for your own and the benefit of our country when you return," the Minister advised.

She also reminded them that the reason why they were sent to attain knowledge and skills from those countries is because Rwanda is inferior to those countries in certain aspects, more so in the fields they have gone to study.

The Director General of SFAR, Emmanuel Muvunyi, said that the number of people getting scholarships was increasing. He further thanked the countries which offered scholarships to these students and whoever contributed to the success of this arrangement. These include China, USA and Scotland.

During a brief interview with The New Times, one of the scholarship beneficiaries, Felix Mutangana, thanked the government for this initiative and pledged to do his best.

"I am thankful to the government I promise to do my best and bring home the rich knowledge and skills," he said. Most of the students will be doing their Masters while others are undergraduates.
