Uganda loses half of its forest cover

The National Forest Authority says the forest cover in the country has more than halved in the last two decades.

The Authority�s Director for Plantations, Paul Drichi says the country is losing close to 90,000 Hectares of forest Annually.

Statistics from the Forestry Authority indicate that 26 percent of the country was covered by forest in 1988 but it has reduced to 13 percent.
