Zain's 'One Network' service extends to Saudi Arabia

ZAIN, the mobile operator in 22 countries in the Middle East and Africa has extended its One Network service to Saudi Arabia, it was announced in Dar es Salaam yesterday. The Zain Tanzania Marketing Manager, Mr Costantine Magavilla, said the firm went operational in Saudi Arabia over the weekend.

"Extending our One Network service to Saudi Arabia is an important milestone for Zain and it clearly cements our ambition to become one of the top 10 groups in telecommunications globally," he said. "Even continental borders cannot deter us," the manager told a news conference.

He said the One Network service provided by Zain now covers 16 countries in Africa and Middle East. He named the countries as Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, Niger, Chad, Malawi, Gabon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Republic of Congo, Burkina Faso, Sudan, Jordan, Bahrain, Iraq and Saudi Arabia.

"With this expansion to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Zain is actualizing our commitment to offer our customers enhanced mobile telephone services. "This makes it easier for people to keep in touch and support cross border trade and enterprises, which is the essence of Zain's brand promise to create a wonderful world," he added.

All Zain Africa and Middle East customers on prepaid and post paid using One Network can now travel to Saudia Arabia , a strategic nation that connects Africa with the Middle East, without paying surcharges and incoming calls. "Customers can make and receive calls and send messages at local rates, receive incoming calls free of charge in one of the 16 One Network countries.
