Lunda empire supreme leader, Mwatiyamvwa of
the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has called
on his subjects in Zambia to live peaceably
with one another, saying they are one people.
The Mwatiyamvwa Mushidi III called for unity during
an interview at the weekend at
Mukandankunda Royal Lunda capital village in Zambezi
where he graced the Lunda Lubanza traditional ceremony.
including high-ranking Katanga Province political figures,
he said any existing misunderstandings between
Luvales and Lundas in Zambezi should be resolved.
A former prominent Lubumbanshi lawyer before
he ascended to the throne in 2000 taking,
he said he was ready to be a mediator between
any of his subjects squabbling after
migrating from the DRC.
"Sometimes there are cultural differences.
These can come due to
influences of different contries.
" My message is unity.
They should maintain peace,
they are one people," he said.
For many years, there has been
a conflict between the Lunda and
Luvale people in the North-Western Province.
