Chief executive Dr Peter Chikumba said that the situation in the DRC was putting the airline's risk management systems to the test.
"The airline has met with phenomenal success in the DRC but has to contend with high risk management," he said.
Dr Chikumba said the diamond-rich country, which is still recovering from decades of civil war, had almost zero infrastructure.
He said the airline had, therefore, been forced to assume inspection duties at airports.
"We are functioning as both operator and inspector," he said. Since starting operations the airline has had to deal with 'unusual' scenarios including customers who arrive late at airports and demand that the plane be stopped from taking off while they buy tickets, he said.
"The airline has been forced to be patient and at the same time tighten its risk management operations," he said.
Risk management in civil aviation is used in the context of decision-making in handling situations that affect aviation safety.
Risk management is important in civil aviation because the effectiveness of service delivery and safety monitoring depends on it.
Dr Chikumba said the absence of a proper road network between Kinshasa and Lubumbashi had resulted in the airline handling huge volumes of customers. He said there was big potential for business in the DRC, one of the most populous countries in Africa.

The airline is using a Boeing 737 with a carrying capacity of 105 passengers and 3,5 tonnes of cargo.
