While South African President Thabo Mbeki has been criticized for his role as mediator for Zimbabwe, he has another thing to be embarrassed about.
South African President Thabo Mbeki has plenty to be embarrassed about as of late. There is the fiasco in regards to the crisis in Zimbabwe in which incumbent President Robert Mugabe and his Zanu-PF Party mobs and militamen have rigged the polls and used violence to force people to vote for him.

Mbeki served as the key mediator for the Zimbabwe crisis. However, Mbeki's approach was beyond soft. Thus, Mbeki has been criticized by the international community for his handling of the situation. There is a move to strip Mbeki of the key mediating position.

This is in regards to Zimbabwe, though.

Back in South Africa, Mbeki has something else to be embarrassed about. The thing to be embarrassed about would be death via circumcision. Yes, there has been a rash of deaths and serious injuries by circumcision in Africa. So far, at least 15 boys have died via circumcision as part of a ritual in the rural parts of South Africa during the winter time.

Keep in mind the seasons tend to be different on opposite sides of the hemisphere.

In the rural parts of South Africa, it is a right of passage. In the past, those that give circumcisions need a medical license to do so. There are legal places for circumcisions and illegal places for circumcisions.

Guess where most of the circumcision-related deaths take place?

In short, many of the circumcisions in South Africa were botched. Ultimately, it was the boys that ended up paying for it. This could be by far one of the most painful deaths that a male could go through.

So far, there have been arrests made in regarded to the messed up circumcisions.

But, this should give Mbeki something to think about.

Death by circumcision; that is something one would be feeling all the way into the afterlife. The thought of such a notion is making me cringe right now.

For the rest of you guys, close your eyes and imagine yourselves on the receiving end of a botched circumcision. The sensation of getting a botched circumcision. Then you get sent home afterwards without a follow up. You're bleeding to death while suffering from excruciating pain in that area.
