Rwanda spot on with U-20 preps

The Caf inspection team that was in Kigali to assess the progress of the U-20 African Youth championship hosting preparations has recommended the work so far done.

According to a post on Caf's website, the CAF Executive committee headed by CAF president Issa Hayatou, expressed its satisfaction with the inspection report regarding the facilities for U-20 Championship due in Rwanda.

In the past months, Caf officials have been inspecting Rwanda's facilities and other infrastructures which will host the tournament.

As part of the hosting facilities, the local organizing committee has identified several Kigali hotels to host to the visiting delegations. 

They include; Mille Collines, Kigali Serena Hotel, Novotel Hotel, and Stipp Hotels. Next month, construction work on two stadiums at Kicukiro and Mumena will begin.

The two plus the newly constructed artificial turf at Remera will be used as training facilities while the renovated Amahoro and Nyamirambo stadiums are the official match grounds.

After the final qualifying round, seven teams including defending champions Congo Brazzaville will join hosts Rwanda for the Youth Championship scheduled for January 18 to February 1.
